Usage for Japa (Chanting):

- Start counting beads from the bead next to the ""Meru"" (the guru bead or the largest bead that signifies the start/end of the cycle).
- Use your thumb to roll the beads over your middle finger. Avoid using your index finger as it's traditionally considered inauspicious for Japa.
- Do not cross the Meru bead. If you complete a full round . turn the malai around and continue chanting in the reverse direction.
